Trying to make it through six months of cold and colorless days can be hard on a girl, especially one that yearns for sunshine and weekends on the water. Let's face it, November through March up here can be completely miserable. I wake each morning and open the curtains as far as they'll go letting as much warmth in as the sunrise will allow. As often as possible I attempt to spend my days outdoors, kicking my Sorel's through the fluffy white, watching Beretta leap her chocolate body through it day after day, and saying hello to every inch of sunshine my pallid skin can get. If there is one thing that gets me through a Minnesota winter, however, it is knowing how absolutely gorgeous our summers are. I remind myself that March will welcome the first day of Spring and once that date arrives my flip flops are slowly allowed to find their way back to my entry way whether it is safe enough to wear them yet or not. But until that time arrives I will continue to live out my frosty days like I usually do and I try to convince myself that they are actually quite wonderful for some of my favorite things. I can overdose on coffee, I can sleep more, and I find it completely acceptable to purchase knitted scarves and sweaters. I exfoliate my skin with yummy cleansers and I eat dark green veggies at every meal. And lastly, if the temperature ever rises above zero, I spend my afternoons jumping into the arms of my love, taking in the sweet sweet time for day dates and snowflakes and February kisses and suddenly, I am glowing.
